  2. SR Officers Information

In fall 1999, the Jackson R-2 School District and the Jackson Police Department began working more closely together through the School Resource Officer program. Law enforcement officers, called SROs, are now present in Jackson R-2 schools to provide information and intervention for students and their families.

The program began with one officer and was expanded in fall 2002 to include a second SRO. In 2010 the program was reduced back to one SRO. Not only do the SROs provide immediate security in the buildings, they help establish a relationship with the students. Whether it's in the classrooms giving presentations on drug or alcohol resistance, or visiting with students in the lunchroom or on the playground, the SROs have both formal and informal interaction with students.
