Jackson Police to Participate in "Drive Sober or Get Pulled over" Campaign

Missouri roads are safer thanks to law enforcement cracking down on impaired drivers and working to make sure motorist think twice about traffic safety between August 17 and September 03, 2012.

The Jackson Police Department will participate in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” DWI enforcement campaign that will be conducted August 17 thru September 03, 2012.  During this time enforcement effort, officers will be focusing on removing impaired drivers from the roadways within the corporate city limits of Jackson.

When we remove impaired drivers from the road, were all safer stated Lt. Scott Eakers.  Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to drive sober.

Driving while intoxicated remains one of the top causes of fatal car crashes in Missouri.  In 2011, 243 people were killed and 957 were seriously injured in crashes involving impaired drivers.
